Meet us! Postpartum educators and authors of the Raising Moms Workbook: This is Not What I Expected.
Trusted Postpartum experts helping new parents find their new normal.

With nearly 30 years as an RN and over 25 years dedicated to supporting postpartum families, I’ve had the privilege of walking with parents through some of their most meaningful moments. Today, I serve as an IBCLC in private practice, where I guide new families through their first weeks and months at home. My greatest fulfillment, though, comes from loving and supporting my own husband, children, and grandchildren—my constant reminder of why this work matters.

As an RN for over 25 years, I have found a passion for working with postpartum parents. I currently work as a Perinatal Patient Educator with certification as an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and LCCE (Lamaze Instructor). I am also a mom and have found JOY in that space of my life! My world revolves around helping new parents and babies navigate postpartum. I truly believe that what we do for our moms and babies impacts the world more significantly than almost anything else we do.
We met as RNs and IBCLCs working at a local hospital in 2018, teaching classes, leading support groups and working with breastfeeding parents. Over time, it became clear to us that new moms are expected to give birth and hit the ground running. There is little time for physical recovery, integrating new family roles, self-care, or connection with others. When the postpartum period is difficult, moms are often left unsure of resources available or coping techniques that can help.
In response, in 2019, we created the workshop "This Is Not What I Expected" for moms in our community. The aim was to empower mothers to embrace and normalize their new roles while experiencing the challenges and joys of motherhood. Helping families manage the differences between what they anticipated versus the realities of parenting a newborn, seemed to unlock confidence that we had not seen with other types of classes.
When our opportunity to meet in person ended during COVID, we created this workbook so that more moms can have access to this material and opportunities to realize support regardless of their location or circumstances. We are excited with how the workbook is being adapted for personal or group use in many settings.
